Coots mix under LED, yellowing tips.

Lights are 4 feet up, dimmed to 20 percent. I've stressed plants with these lights, but not at that distance and intensity.

Coots mix under LED, yellowing tips.

Hey guys, I just cant figure this one out. I've got symptoms on all plants under cob led in raised beds. The plants are growing, but the tips and margins are burnt only on the new growth. The last run in this room went fine and the soil hasn't been amended. Soil is kept nice and moist and grow...

Here's a better shot of the arrays as I was cleaning up and reconfiguring the room.

    CLU058 grow update

I'll look into replacing with the B&W holders for this last fixture. I've been running these BJBs for 2 years now without any melting issues or anything else. I'm at just over 50w per chip on 133mm sinks. I've also been boldly exceeding the voltage ratings by running four chips in series, but I...

    CLU058 grow update

I had to look back to check what I bought. These smaller rigs are gen 5s, in the big room I've got 80 gen 6s and 16 gen 5s sprinkled in. All 3500k. I havent noticed any issues with the chips, but I havent checked closely either. I'm definitely going to build put some cxm22s at some point. Like...

    CLU058 grow update

Here are a few leftover COBs from the original build finally getting put together for veg two years later. The finished one was in use for a while on a single 4 foot frame, but was in a corner of the garage hence the grime on it. I reconfigured it for a small veg space on an 18x22 frame. I'll...

    CLU058 grow update

If I had to do it again, I'd roll with cxm22s. I was still learning at the time.

    CLU058 grow update

The whole setup was certainly not cheap. I could have set up the room with 8 HPS lights for less than 1/3 of the cost. I've got a total of 5200w in there and feel it is at least equivalent to 8000w of HPS.

    CLU058 grow update

A few years ago I decided that I wanted to grow more efficiently with a lower impact. I found this forum and read a lot and decided to switch over to COBs. I built an 8x20 no till bed and built a pretty large COB array sourced from cobkits. My setup is: 96 x CLU058 1825 chips powered by 24 x...

Can DE bulbs be directly air cooled?

Before I switched to LED, i was ready to buy a bunch of those boss reflectors. They look great.

Can DE bulbs be directly air cooled?

Well yeah... That is the only drawback I am aware of. How much efficiency is lost? I don't know, but that seems to be a good enough reason not to do it. It's improved efficiency is the main reason to use it.

Can DE bulbs be directly air cooled?

While SE bulbs are under vacuum, DE bulbs are full of nitrogen gas. The nitrogen atmosphere allows the bulb to operate at a higher temperature, which increases its efficiency. The downside of a gas-filled bulb is that the gas conducts heat from the outside of the bulb to the arc tube. Any air...

    What light to get?

I guess I misunderstood. I thought you were saying you preferred the aesthetic of blue red light "the way the plants look under them". If you're happy with what you've got than go for it. The companies posted by cobkits: tastyled, hlg and plc make more efficient full spectrum cob lighting in...

    What light to get?

That's a silly reason to choose a grow light. I find blurple lights to be frustrating in the grow room. It's harder to spot deficiencies and strains the eyes. Look into the companies cobkits recommended. You will wind up with a much better product.

About to place my order, 3500k or 3000k in 90 CRI?

What was your experience running these different temps? I've seen a few side by sides where the warmer color seems to come out ahead in yield... I don't have any first hand experience. The argument for the warmer temp seems to be that plants use the warmer light more efficiently versus the...

About to place my order, 3500k or 3000k in 90 CRI?

Check the mcree curve thread out and leave more confused than before. Personally, I like the looks of 3000k 90 cri.
