Also it will take a little longer to inoculate your substrate using the compost, but you can make it a bit thicker which is great for multiple flushes and keeping your mat in tact. Plus fruits tend to be bigger with some strains

You can absolutely use the compost but remember you sterilize the wbs and you pasteurize the compost. Do not sterilize compost. And make sure your compost has good aeration and doesn't compact easily. You don't want it muddy.

Experimentation and innovation are independence. test and play around as many ways as possible! They don't need much light, I like led Christmas lights.

I've personally tried about every additive you could imagine. Unless I was using a soil or compost of some kind i would stick with gysum. Keep it simple. What kind of tub or bin are you growing in?

Since your growing cubes you can stay very simple. The wbs will have more than enough food to support several healthy flushes especially if you soak your wbs in gypsum before you inoculate. I'd take your bin or tub put down some tinfoil to block light from underneath then sterilized vermiculite...
