I think if you are using a pump your leg length does not need to be the same. I thought a "gravity" feed system needs legs the same length but not a pressurized one. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

With an 18 gallon res and 3 gallon pot in a 3x3 if using coco every 2 or 3 days you will need to fill that res. No circulation pump is needed.
