i would switch to the rapid rooter plugs.....i dont know what it is about rockwool about I had a nearly 90% failure rate with rockwool cubes....when I switch to the plugs it flipped to a 90% success rate so i never went back to rockwool...works for me try it might work better for you.

Why not just cut out a intake? Unless you are using co2 it doesnt really need to be sealed other then light issues and thats easily fixed. Cut out a lil hole behind the fan?
