    Black Hash 20 yrs ago.

If a plant gets frost-bitten and stays out in the sun, the buds will turn brown. They do seem to survive down to 27-8°F. Really just turning color like any plant will do when it dies. It gets rid of the chlorophyll flavor.

    Black Hash 20 yrs ago.

I've been making nice hash with a 50:50 mixture of QWISO wax and finely ground buds. The browner the better for the buds.

    Decarb for Boot

Watching the decarb take place is not overkill, it is science, much better than opinion. Further they are 3-4X as strong than if I don't decarb after making the oil. But then I've only been cooking with cannabis for 45 years.

    Decarb for Boot

I decarb after I make the canna butter/oil. I use coconut oil, 1lb per 2oz of bud. If you have water in your crockpot. it will not reach 220°F unless it is pressurized. Further, baking brownies does not decarb, because the brownies don't even get to 200°F. If they did, there would be no water...

    Low to High grade Cannabutter

I would say it depends on why it is low grade. If it is low grade because it is old and the THC has broken down, more will break down while making the butter. If it is just low levels of THC because of the strain, doubling the amount should work well.

    A tip on decarbing/purging

I also use stirring during decarbing. If I'm going to cook with some wax, I'll mix it with equal mounts of coconut oil and heat to 245°F. Once the major out-gassing is done at 15-20 minutes, stirring will show more bubbles until the decarb is done. I don't use magnification, but a headlamp...

Is decarboxylate necessary if not ingesting

I've found that if I filter an alcohol solution with chlorophyll, and place it in the sun for ~20 minutes, most of the chlorophyll gets converted. After 2-3 QWISO washes, I let the last wash soak for 15-20 minutes, filter, treat with sunlight, and use this for baking.

Unnecessary to decarboxylate herb for cannabutter?

After making non-decarbed brownies for over 20 years, I discovered the coconut oil/butter/ghee methodology here. Some people decarb before making butter/oil. I always wondered about how long it takes dry material to get to temperature for decarbing, and how decarbed is the material to begin...

Do you have to decarb before baking?

No I was not joking. Yes, they didn't taste great, but the extra chocolate helped. Worked for twenty years. I have been decarbing coconut oil after extraction these days, and it works great.

    Canabutter recipe

Hi Fumble, I can think of no reason to freeze. I freeze my material to make QWISO, bit it stays below freezing the whole time. Also, I noticed that you decarb at "30 to 90 mins at 220f". But then you do your extraction at 250°? If you are doing a water-free extraction at 250°, you shouldn't need...

    Decarb Graph

I like to see the decarb happen. I do the coconut oil infusion first, then decarb at 240-250°F. That way I can watch the bubbles come out form the decarb and cool the oil quickly when done. Depending on how much decarbing has naturally occurred before I decarb it, the time ranges from 15-25...

"Cold Method" Tincture. Please help me. I DID NOT DECARB, options!?!? *Lengthy Post*

Check out Grow Godess' blog. The second article posted is on naturally decarbing for oral consumption. I thank you as well for your service. http://michiganmedicalmarijuana.org/blog/rss/532-growgoddess-blog/

    THC Pills

Using single '0' caps which hold .5ml/cc of liquid, I make 25 caps per gram of oil/wax as follows: Using .5gm of coconut oil for each capsule, 25 caps=12.5gm. I take the 12.5gm of coconut oil, add the gram of oil/wax in a small stainless container. I heat it to 240°-250°F for 20-25 minutes...

    double rinse butter

I make my butter, really coconut oil, with water. Let it cool in the refridgerator, pour off the water, and then I remelt the hardened oil with fresh water, get it to near boiling and let it harden again, and remove the water a second time. This gets rid of a lot of the green chlorophyll color...

    QWEVER?

Are you talking about the amber oil floating on top of the milky water puddles after the alcohol is gone? It see that too, only when it is humid outdoors. I use 99% ISO too, but the humidity runs 10-15% here normally, so I don't see water until the RH% gets to 40-50%.

    cooking and decarboxylating

I agree, but find 240°F for 20-25 minutes is plenty. However, I use visual cues to tell when it is done. That is, when the decarbing is onging, CO2 bubbles are being released, and come to the top. When they stop, it is done. One factor is the age/dryness of the plant matter one starts with, as...

    Cannabis in coffee

Hi Fumble, Do you use a paper filter when you make the coffee? I would be concerned about a paper filter taking out oils.

Need help cooking herb for pills

If you are using herb that you already vaporized, you probably do not need to heat it, it should be decarbed already. Normally 240°F for 20-25 minutes is enough to decarb. If you vaped the herb, it was exposed to nearly 400° to vaporize the THC which needs ~387°F to vaporize.

To ISO or not to ISO ?

I agree, decarb it, but... How much QWISO do you have. I use 25 doses per gram for myself. Figure out how many cookies or brownies or whatever you are going to make, take the appropriate amount of QWISO, and mix it with the fat (butter or oil) for the recipe, and heat it to about 240°F for 25...
