If your temperatures are like 75-85, only do it every other day, to give roots time to air out. Everyday just works for me cause the insane heat my plants have to deal with.

Get some clingwrap and cover the top of the pot with it, leaving like a 1/4 inch gap between the stem and wrap. Then place something fairly light proof (thats not black cause of heat) over that, will help keep humidity up and temperature down, making the top stay a little moister longer.

If you use Hyponex make sure you mix in stuff to lighten it up, its HEAVY, compacts very easily, and dries out quickly. I got a few bags and ended up throwing them in my compost. I use MiracleGro soil even though most people avoid it like the plague, my plants are doing well with it.

Yeah, if you have too much leaf on them, it'll devote its energy into trying to keep them alive and not towards rooting quickly. I've had a clone not show roots for 8 days, and pruned the largest set of leaves off, 4 days later there were root nubs all over the stem.

Yeah, if you try to germinate outside it will take much longer unless you have some pretty wet weather for awhile. Do the paper towel thing Ickey said, try to keep it indoors till its not a seedling anymore before planting it outside.
