As an experiment I put two plants under an 8 bulb T5 fixture and two under a 600w MH. The ones under the fluorescents are flowering. Why?? The ones under the 600w MH are larger and show absolutely no signs of flowering. They are both on 16/8 light/dark cycles. What could be causing this?

It is a cheap 6" inline exhaust fan so maybe your right. Ambient temps in the room are 65F but 35" under the light its between 72-75F. Could I be getting a false reading from the thermometer getting too much radiant heat? Is it worth buying one of those infrared temp guns? How about the T5s...

Actually the brown stuff is kind of gritty, like tiny specs all over. I've had the slimy stuff and this is different. Water temps never get over 66F. I'll try throwing in some H2O2 just to see what happens.
