From my experience in building led panels. A thin sheet of an aluminum is not an effect heat sink. You should try buy a regular heatsink (min 30cm * 15cm) and slap a couple of 120mm fans.

Its not 50w of cfl its 50w of LEDs. Based on what I've seen in the grow journals. 50w+ goes a long way. A guy grew 1.5ounces in a PC box with 20w(I think less) of leds

This plant is being grown under my 54w custom led panel 18/6 lighting (5 blue, 13 red @ 3w each) its about 6-7" from the led lights (lowered it to let it stretch a little bit). The picture here is about 3 days old so theres a few more nodes now ill post a pic later when my lights go back on.
