Yep, might want to clip off the brown tips. And, if they're not too mushy give a scrape from a node to the bottom. Might just need to take new cuts?

She's finished stretching, right? I get the same problem, and mine are much shorter. I have to be able to rotate 'em, or even move them when I really screw up. This setup has been working pretty well:
