    Electrician. Designer.

What are your guys thoughts on mini splits inside a 10x10x8 tent, possibly 12x12x8? The gorilla grow tents to be specific. I'm a commercial spark too, but since you guys have experience designing maybe you can chime in. I don't know shit about charging lines so would have to go with the...

Experienced Electrician! Here to Answer Any and All Growroom Electrical Questions

I thought he wanted a switch. Anyways, pretty sure it's code to have a quick disconnect inside the fixture these days... If not, just good practice. A switched light will require a junction with a feed coming in (6' cord you recommended) and a load (the light).

operating 1000w total power grow with batteries?

Easier to just pay the increase in your electricity bill. Just seems very inefficient. The batteries have to be charged when they are drained and that uses electricity. You look at a 100Ah battery for example: 12V x 100Ah = 1200 Watt-hours 1200Wh / 1000w light = 1.2 hours Given the Amp...

    10'x10' tent - 5kw?

Was looking at the 12" vortex xl, it's the 2000+ cfm. Anyways was thinking of adding 2 reducers to it. 12" flange to 10" then 10" to 8". The reflectors are all 8". Will add a speed controller if it's too fast. The room size is <800 cubic feet so if anything it will be over kill. Thought...

    10'x10' tent - 5kw?

Thanks for the suggestion thre4t2s0ciety. here is the new lay out, also included a complete birds eye view of the tent. luckily in this situation, the gorilla tents can hold all that weight. This is a closed system. Co2 burner with ducting leading inside, forgot to add the 6" inline that will...

    10'x10' tent - 5kw?

I appreciate the input but hids are only going in there. I'm more concerned with the foot print of the lights providing equal amounts of light throughout. I feel it would work fine but I'm sure someone could chime in some slight modifications or recommendations. I suppose measuring the light...

    10'x10' tent - 5kw?

Ambient temp outside tent is roughly 62 on average. A bit low but still thinking the heat of 5k in the tent will kick my ass without running exhaust constantly or pretty close. 10" exhaust isn't practical for this as the 8" vortex is only 50cfm less and all the flange sizes for the cool tubes...

    10'x10' tent - 5kw?

Thought the 4 x 1000w lights in the tent weren't enough. 40w/square ft. with the 4, seems a little low.... What are yalls' thoughts on adding a 5th 1kw dead center in the tent. This will provide 50w/sq.ft. Air cooling is still possible, will have to upgrade to a 10" fan because of all the...

    electric problem

What's the issue? If his over current device is 15A, based on it being 120v.... he should be able to add a receptacle for his grow light as long as the garage lights don't exceed his maximum allowable ampacity. fyi: 220v/240 breaker referencing should be said as "2 pole" not 2 pull, 240...

    electric problem

This guy obviously doesn't have the proper trade practices down but as a DIY guy, all the best for him. Should be inspected. No disrespect to anyone but if you aren't a sparky by trade, opinions should be kept to yourself. It's just a safety thing...

    electric problem

The breaker should always match the wire rating. Some 14 gauge is rated for 20 amps so always check to make sure what you are working with. If it is rated for 15 amps downsize the breaker to 15 immediately or repull the wire. Check the wattage on lighting circuit with the 2 garage lights. If...

    Electrician Questions

The picture shown is just a fused disconnect outside by the ac unit. If the unit has no purpose anymore you could cut the feed and just add a sub panel and tie it in. Sizing the panel based on the feed size (#8,10 or 12) it's important you take a look at the wire's insulation rating...

    Fox farm bottled expiry date?

Anyone know the shelf life on fox farm bottled nutrients. Stored in a dark cool environment ideally, how long do you think they last? Water solubles too... Found some stuff the other day that's 3-4 years old.

Sealed room, how do you scrub?

Sealed flower room (4) 1ks in 9x9x8 tent. What's the best way to scrub the air? CO2 is added in the room so it would be nice to maintain an efficient means of delivery. One vortex 8" pulls air through (4) air cooled 8" reflectors with an inlet on one side and outlet on the other side. There...

    Liquid cooled lights, anyone?

Thanks for the input guys. I've come to the conclusion it is too much of a headache to even bother. I feel they are a novelty item. I want to say I was really baked when I saw them and ideas started flowing. Not practical at all!

    Liquid cooled lights, anyone?

What is everyone's thoughts on these type of reflectors. Seem a little pricey but if they claim to eliminate 90% of heat, sounds worth it.

    tubes or bucket?

Good advice hammer21. I think I'll have to run 2 iwaki 70 rlt, one for each 9x4,5' space. Why 5' max tube length... Just for ability to work inside? These tents are huge. 8 tubes and 8 plants per, that bad or something? Over 1.25 square foot per plant How do you figure out how much...

    tubes or bucket?

7 sprayers per tube, 56 in total. iwaki100 rlt, can that handle it? Those iwaki's are pricey, hope their quality is the best. Sorry don't know the calculations for sizing a pump.
