If I recall correctly HPS emit some light in the UV spectrum anyway? I remember researching cool tubes before I bought and one of the things I read was that they block the UV created by the HPS lights.. Don't quote me as I am pretty sure I read that on a grow forum :P

I used to have heat problems every summer. My solution: cool tube. Not sure if it will work on your setup but it did for me. Its cheaper than AC, and allows you to move the light closer. I have a 600w hps and a 430cfm and I can touch the glass even after 12hours. Just my 2 cents bongsmilie

Hard to say without more details buddy.. What colour are the new roots?

Why do you want to increase N? What nutes are you currently using? What medium are you using? I have used seaweed extract to boost N when growing organic in soil. In a hydro setup when using the right nutes you shouldn't need to increase solely the N, Increasing the amount of 'grow' nutes...

If it looks like "fur" then I would say its mould for sure (sometimes salt can build up at base of stem) Are you growing in soil or hydro? How do you water the plants? Mould only really grows in cool, damp and stagnant conditions. My advice would be to clean off the mould with a cotton bud/Q...
