I might be getting a clone-only strain and I'm gonna try to breed it, so where can I find a very recessive strain?

I was just thinkin about grafting, and I thought, instead of pitching the roots of your finished plant, what if you grafted that root sytem to another plant, so it has a fully developed root system plus it's own root system. if you provide enough light and nutrients would it grow twice as fast.
