Hydro vs Soil (a growers perspective)

Recently I decided I would settle the dispute between hydro and soil, and what produces the best bud, at least for me. Argue the natural or organic constructs of why soil is better, or the control you get with hydro all you want. The better grow is definitely hydro. Why? In a side by side test...

    Something to remember...

If you touch the buds, don't touch your eye. It will get sticky and burn a little. That is all. :joint: <<<<-----When do we get blunts?:leaf:

So what;s the deal with hermies?

Yeah, I know what a hermie is, I just wanna know why so many people think you can so easily make a plant hermie? If you beat your daughter is she gonna grow a penis? How bout if you starve her? Maybe if you make her shower too often? No. Didn't think so. Basically if your plant is susceptible...

5 Gal DWC Monsters in the Making!

Ok, so everything in growing is an experiment until you find out what's best right. So here, I shall be doing even more experimenting. These 2 are from a cross of Blueberry and NL from, well i don't know, I guess he would be like my mentor or something. He calls them Blueberry Lights, yummm...

    20 oz Res. DWC Experiment?!?!?

So I am in the process of changing locations and thus squeezed my crop back to 2 flowering, 2 veg for the move. I cloned only 4 from the last batch and planned to keep the best 2, one I already chucked, and one was noticeably behind. I didn't feel like throwing her out, so I decided, why not...

Tricks of the trade for your DWC...

So I've noticed that a few things that I do or use for my DWC aren't really common topics on this site. For the most part everything you need to know is somewhere on rollitup, but I'm sure there are a few things we can share that aren't getting the publicity they should be. If you have any...

    A Recent Revelation...

So interestingly enough I recently was dealing with root rot in my younger set and have been really troubled that none of the regular tricks seem to be working. Ph is fine, temp is fine, nute levels fine, so on and so forth. Then I think about it for a minute. In my DWC setup I have always...

L Indole Butyric Acid & B1 in your DWC?

So L-Indole Butyric Acid & B1 are the common ingredients of rooting hormone. The simple combination takes the stick end of a plant and induces rooting. So what if you added it to your DWC? The whole concept is root growth, why remove the compound? Seems to me it might grow your roots at a rate...

    Roots as soil?

So I grow DWC, and was admiring my roots system and thought to myself, "You know what, I bet if I were to throw my roots in a Rubbermaid, and throw in some worms to break it down, it might be the best soil ever." I decided to quit using soil after my first grow, but I like to experiment so I...

    Moon Lighting?

So I was thinking about the affects of the moon on outdoor plants, and how indoor plants don't get moonlight when flowering ever. So, what would moon light do? The plant buds out every 2 weeks, with the biggest growths around week 4 and week 8. If you were to factor in natural conditions, it...

    pH Related Nutrient Availabilty

This is the basic pH nutrient chart. As you can plainly see, nutrient uptake is only available at specific pH. I've found that a lot of problems are as a result of perceived nutrient deficiency without considering how pH is affecting the problem. I hope this is helpful.bongsmilie

The mystery of the purple stem answered!

So I often see the thread questioning the purple stems that show on fan leaves. I have come to the conclusion that these leaves are just dead weight once flowering begins. Once the flowering process starts, you want the plant to focus on one thing... bud production. If you think about it, the...

    Question for Canadians?!?!?!?!

Didn't know where else to ask, and couldn't find any info online... ...anyways, I'm traveling up to Canada and just wanted to know what I would pay, not that I'm buying of course, for marijuana. Just wondering what street value is. Thanks.:weed:

    Flood and Drain Question

So my house runs on well water and Ph's at 7. Unfortunately it has more minerals than regular city water. After about a month I noticed my soil plants were showing signs of nute burn despite using next to no nutes. The soil had devloped a mineral salts build up from the water. My question is...

    DWC to Flood & Drain

So I have a fllood and drain table for flowering but due to limited space can't really put a veg table up. I do have enough room for a DWC for veg but was wondering about transferring from DWC to F & D because of the root exposure. I know I can just cover the table and stop light leaks, but my...

    Repopulating The Planet!

With the beginning of a new grow we all run into the problem of some seeds being male, throw them away right? Wrong! What we should do as avid marijuana growers is find somewhere in our area that we could plant said male to flourish in nature. The idea is that it grows so this upcoming outdoor...
