i'll NEVER buy foxfarm happyfrog again !

' Man, I have had the same problems with FF Happy Frog. The nute solution I pour into the soil is at about 6.5 PH, then I measure the runoff pH and it is acidic as fuck, usually under 5. It seems that Happy Frog soil is acidic from the start.

problems w/ dry and dying leaves

I apologize for not having pics. I don't have a cam at the moment but I will borrow a friend's ASAP and get some pics on here. Symptoms: 1. Very dry older leaves that are folding upwards from the sides like a taco, which eventually get so dry they just die. The newer leaves are also rigid...

Which type of pH meter to get...

I'm currently using FF Happy Frog and as far as I know it is pH balanced. It says it has dolomite lime to balance pH on the bag. But this still doesn't really answer my main question... As quoted from the original post: "Wouldn't a water pH meter basically cover all the bases if you regularly...

Which type of pH meter to get...

So you're saying that the soil itself has no effect on the water/solution that you are pouring into it? So after the water passes through the soil/root system it should be the same? Wow, this confuses the hell out of me since I have read (from multiple sources on the web) that the soil...

Which type of pH meter to get...

Thanks for the response but you didn't really answer my question. I pretty much just want to know if a pH meter that measures liquid pH is all you need and if testing runoff pH is as good (or better) than testing soil pH. *edit* BTW Boneman, does your Hanna meter measure liquid or soil pH or...

Which type of pH meter to get...

One that measures soil pH or liquid pH? I am about to buy a really nice Hanna digi pH meter that measures water pH. I heard the cheapo meters are a waste of money so i'm not even going to bother with them. Right now I can only afford one meter and I was wondering if it is even necessary to...

    light reddish/brown new growth

My plant is a week and a half old now and I just started noticing that the new leaves coming in are light reddish/brown just at the base of the leaves (opposite of the tips). I think it might be nute burn but from most of the pics I've seen, nute burn symptoms start at the tips of the leaves...

    Fox Farm nutes/soil pH problem

My plant is actually doing better. The leaves used to droop a lot and now they are recovering. Although there is some yellowing but that was present before I gave it the nutes. I usually check the runoff every time I water. I dunno why, I think it's an OCD thing or something. Anyways, just did...

    Fox Farm nutes/soil pH problem

I'm using Fox Farm Happy Frog soil. I tested the pH of the soil before I poured the nutes on it and it was neutral... Like I said, everything was at a normal pH before the actual act of pouring the nutes into the soil.... It's so frustrating because it seems like no one else has ever had this...

    Fox Farm nutes/soil pH problem

I did make sure that my nute/water mixture was stable. It was around 6.8 before I poured it on the soil... But after I poured it on the soil and then tested the runoff pH it dropped down to 5. Even when I poured the nutes on brand new soil and then measured the runoff of that it still dropped to...

    Fox Farm nutes/soil pH problem

I just tried out FF Grow Big at 1/4 strength (1/4 tsp per gal) on one of my plants and it lowered the pH of the runoff water to 5. The original runoff was near 7 and the pH of the nute/water mix before I poured it on the soil (FF Happy Frog) was a little under 7... I even tried pouring the...
