Can i germinate my seeds by simply putting a seed in soil in a pot and putting it under a t5 light? Will that basically germ the seed and start the plant growing? - should work right? dont see why not?

how far do you keep your lights away from the tops of your plants? - ive read 1ft 2ft 3ft - people seem to all contradict each other. - if your looking for DENSITY - for the dense factor - how far should i keep the light away from the tops?
