    It was from day 1.

Seedling deficiency? And what to do about it.

I thought it was a little early for deficiencies, but maybe they've burned through whatever was in the quart of roots. Our tap water is excruciatingly hard and chlorinated, so we didn't want to use that. Shouldn't the supersoil deal with calcium too, from the bonemeal?

Seedling deficiency? And what to do about it.

These kids are 3 weeks old, plants in quart containers with roots organic and watered with r/o. They have been exhibiting little dark spots that become little crunchy brown spots. We are thinking calcium deficiency? Our solution would be, we think, to just repot them into their 7 gal pots with...

    And it begins...

So, we think we had the lights to close. All of the little grey spots have turned brown and crunchy. These are older leaves, and we don't see any issues on newer leaves. We have since backed the lights off to 28". They started at 33, we moved them down a couple of times until they were 25...

    Basement in winter... Heating advice

This is our first grow. We're growing in a 4*4 tent in the basement. Our temps are great right now. We're at 24/0 so we have to vent the tent to keep us at a comfy 75. Our basement ambient temperature is about 68 right now, but in cold weather ambient gets down to the 50s. We know we're going to...

So, we moved the kids into the tent today. California Lightworks Solar extreme 500 at 33". We're trying to figure out whether we should put them on a light/dark schedule. They have been 24/0 since birth. Three of them are popping their 3rd set of true leaves. Two of them are screwing around and...

Those BBs look so beautiful. The JPs need to get their acts together. They've got bedhead and their shirts are buttoned crooked.

    And it begins...

Well, we did go investigate. Finally found the seed (surprisingly difficult when there's no taproot), it had cracked when we put it in the dirt, but it had deteriorated to the point that it just disintegrated. Owell, I'm sure the rest will be girls. Final count: 2 Blue Balls, 3 Jelly Pie.

    And it begins...

We're still hoping to see that last bean poke it's head out, but I'm thinking it's time to investigate. We added dirt to the ones that were leggy. Hopefully that helps. The tent is all decked out waiting for the kids to move in.

    And it begins...

Trying to remember how long they were without light after they poked their heads out. Two of them are pretty leggy. Note to us: next time, put them in the soil and keep them under the light until they pop. Maybe they'll be stockier.

    And it begins...

If we're journaling, we should probably document that today was the first day that the dueling experts who know nothing argued about what to do with the seedlings. It's hard when we both know everything! :)
