Do fungus gnats eat leaves and is that what I have on my traps?

No house flies in the tent, or the room that the tent is in. I've still only seen gnats to this point. I mixed neem cake with water and let it sit for a day then applied. Added a small amount of the neem cake too the top of the soil a few days later. Still see the occasional one flying around...

    The Main-Lining Thread

If you mean nodes, I'm having this problem too. I've got 5 plants and one is running away from the others. 2 are middle of the pack and two are lagging behind by 2 nodes. I topped at the 3rd node again for the second topping but 2 of them could have used some extra time. I still can't...

    Blumat system advice?

Thanks I'll look into them. Don't mind paying if they're that useful. I'm trying to visualize how they would work with the distribution drippers. Each pot that I have has an 8mm to 3mm T connector off the 8mm supply line so I can run drippers. Would I connect one end of the quick release to...

    Blumat system advice?

I've been using them for about a month and while I do like them I'm considering going back to hand watering. Some of my distribution drippers don't work very well. If I unscrew them completely water comes gushing out no problem but once they're back in the drip isn't as consistent as the...

Using LOS, does size of pot have to be 15gal?

Why the hate for Coot? Seems like a pretty knowledgeable guy from the podcasts I've listened too. But, I'm a newbie who's just trying to sift through the mountains of BS out there. Anyway, I've noticed the outer ring of my fabric pots are always dry too. I'm using blumats with the occasional...

Neem oil banned in Canada (it seems). Dormant oil good enough?

I've never purchased anything from them, but, Botanic Planet Canada has organic neem oil on their website. Worth a search anyway..

Do fungus gnats eat leaves and is that what I have on my traps?

Hey everyone, hope your grows are going well. Was wondering if I could get some identification on these little bastards. To this point I wouldn't call it a huge problem, but, I don't want it to become one. I put new traps down about 48 hours ago and I've caught like 8 in that time. Original...

    Blumat system advice?

Some people recommend a stone, some don't. I personally am not using one, but, I'm a new grower so hopefully someone with more experience will chime in. From what I read, it's clear colored reservoirs that will cause problems with algae so I grabbed a black one and leave the lid on. Make sure...

    Blumat system advice?

For those in Canada, blackswallowsoil.com also offers every blumat accessory as well. I'd also recommend the kis organics podcasts from Tad Hussey. He has a couple episodes where they focus solely on blumats for anyone interested in learning more about them.

    Blumat system advice?

Success!! 3 of the 5 had kinks from tightening the valves too tight during the initial installation. Thanks bud!!:D

    Blumat system advice?

I'll give that a look, I did tighten down the valves pretty good originally so that could definitely be it. Thanks.

    Blumat system advice?

I must be an idiot because I can't get these to work properly. Everything is connected but only the first pot will drip from the dripper's. I thought maybe there was air in the lines so I went around and disconnected each point where the 8mm hose connects to the 3mm line, one pot at a time, and...

    Blumat system advice?

They do make a cap, but, the only one I'm seeing is for the 3mm tubing. I ordered a 8mm to 3mm elbow piece instead, should do the trick. Not sure about resetting the carrots but I'll probably end up doing it anyway just to be safe.

    Blumat system advice?

So I installed the blumats today. Followed all the directions, yada yada yada. I feel like I'm missing a piece here. 8mm to 3mm elbow I think? The water just runs out the end pictured below. All the carrots are installed and I won't be able to get the piece until Monday. Will I need to reset...

Plants are droopy and leaves are curly/wavy

Thanks! I really appreciate all the info and advice. :) Will definitely add the perlite and look into pine bark mulch. I am interested in learning about making my own soil mix, but, I've never grown before and didn't want to bite off more than I could chew on my first run. 48 years, that's...

    Blumat system advice?

Interested in this as well. I'm going to set mine up this weekend and planned on elevating mine at 4 to 5 feet based on what I had read others suggest. I have 25 feet of tubing, but, not sure if I'll use it all or not. I assume that hanging it too high is better than too low, but, wondering if...

Plants are droopy and leaves are curly/wavy

I've got a few more days before I transplant Are you suggesting I topdress the solo cups with some now or just mix a bunch in with my soil when I transplant? Honestly, I thought the kis organics soil came with everything I would need. I did a fair amount of research and listened to a bunch of...

Plants are droopy and leaves are curly/wavy

Appreciate the kind words. I do love them and just want them to flourish. It's tough starting out and not having someone around to coach you or share their personal knowledge. All I can really do is read and research and try and learn as I go. It's been fun and addictive so far. I'm sure some...

Plants are droopy and leaves are curly/wavy

Thank you, you too! It's a journey for sure. I do think about things way too much, but, luckily I haven't overreacted yet (thanks to the community). They are looking much much better this evening so letting them be was the right decision. Thank you and best to you!

Plants are droopy and leaves are curly/wavy

Thanks for the reassurance. I plan on going straight to their final home next, 5 gallon fabric pots. Will definitely bury that stem some as well. I sprayed the soil the first couple days after they came out, but, been watering out of a glass bottle since so there hasn't been any water on the...
