    DIY with Quantum Boards

THanks for the response @2com . @pop22 what you think? If you received this would you contact hlg about a replacement board? I have no problem sending this back. Its only 2 weeks old. I noticed this right after connecting the boards and prior to firing up the fixture.

in the pic some of the mask is missing or worn off. I can see copper. THe board works but was concerned about the exposed copper. I understand the solder testing point is live and right there. Am I being too picky.. I have installed over 30 of these boards and never seen this.

    DIY with Quantum Boards

Just recently got this board from HLG. Never seen a mask problem before. Any thoughts does this pose any risk? I can tell you that it bugs me that this one board is blemished.

I just dont trust these cheapo timers. One of mine ( stanley), one of the 2 outlets had a mini meltdown. when I opened, clearly the soldered wire got to hot. I noticed a few strands were not soldered but cut back, so likely a defect. That timer I was pushing near its max. As @Rocket Soul...

    DIY with Quantum Boards

These look like they should have been in a scratch and dent sale. I recieved a double heatsink in a scratch and dent and its fin or 2 was barley bent. based on what I have seen from my shipments I would contact HLG and send them pics. They will look after you.

Try tapping on the side of the timer before unplugging and plugging back in. These have relays that will eventually fail. I have a Stanley timer I have to tap sometimes( dont use it anymore ) and light will come on. Unplugging and plugging back in would be enough to trigger the bad relay. I...

    DIY with Quantum Boards

Funny I was researching this thread since the start and bought V1's in early 2018. Same idea for bringing to Canada.. I suppose at around the same time gml was in touch. I did eventually buy buy 4 qb96e from gml and he shipped me 4 little ( 5"x5") individual boxes, one in which had a big dent. I...

    DIY with Quantum Boards

I have ordered Digikey and Mouser and both delivered promptly. Digikey now spams my email and Mouser does not. I once made a mistake on an order, called the next morning before shipment and changed my driver. THe lady at Mouser was very nice and was able to correct the shipment. I will buy all...

In my 4x8 tent they are mounted the 4' span as seen here. Since there was an angled roof and limited hanging height we figured not to go longer than 22" max on the design. My buddy was replacing the ViperSpectra600 he had. We installed 3 of those 260 fixtures so far, my buddy is blown away and...

The Chinese Quantum Board Knock Off Builds

Who needs strips if you space your boards 18" apart in rows. Strips better for customizing a foot print on a rack or so. Its just another option. for small rooms or tents boards work good for me.

The Chinese Quantum Board Knock Off Builds

I knew thats what i had to do. Since my 4x8 is in a corner and I dont have arms of a basketball player. I climb in at certain stages. It allows me to move around. It is a pain adjusting height on to many fixtures for sure but I will perhaps adjust once in a run. Another big plus is removing them...

@bigmikey86 Nice. Clean AF. For me the singles are king. If you ever want to change rooms etc you can redesign to your needs. Total advocate for this method.

Did I ever say I dislike shopping for lights and drivers. Your mind changes as fast as the world turns. The spectrum on this board is pretty badass.. I like the 2 single heatsinks as you can customize length and shape with some L channel. gunna sleep on this...

The Chinese Quantum Board Knock Off Builds

Nice, another decision. Looks like the V3 board with 36 cree diodes has an expected slight bump in spectrum ( and price ) over the board with 16 cree diodes. for $40 extra that would buy some strips.. For the price, option 1 could be the one...

The Chinese Quantum Board Knock Off Builds

So a plain quantum board with qb11 reds? I am thinking the 3500k with cree xpe2 reds only. I noticed that the kit with the 240h c1050b driver was a little cheaper than the HLG 240h 48b. Im trying to think what advantage can I gain from grabbing the 48V driver. One advantage is If I had a...

The Chinese Quantum Board Knock Off Builds

Same as cost as HLG pretty much. I like how the driver mounts. Ive always questioned putting the driver ontop of the heatsink. Since I grow in a tent my drivers are outside, Banging my head on wether to add IR and LG UV or just go for the all Cree 660nm only. I am liking the 580 nm or so bump...

The Chinese Quantum Board Knock Off Builds

@Airwalker16 Nice looking light but it is not available. As well does not ship to Canada. I was looking at the spectrum curves between the KB 3500k with cree vs the HLG RSPEC 3500 with osram and the KB seems to jump a little higher on the red spike than HLG but the HLG bumps a fair bit more in...

The Chinese Quantum Board Knock Off Builds

I am reading into better quality diodes. Look at the spectrum graph.. a huge spike in red compared to epistar. It cost more too. I will get 3500K with add the cree reds on board. I just dont know if I desire to have the UV and IR ( aka far red ). There is a choice for this, so I will choose as...
