THis is my first grow and i am in day 40 flower and 7 or 8 of the lower fan leaves have started to turn yellow in the past week is it ok to cut them off?

Ok i am not so sure how bad this can hurt your plants but last night my timer messed up and my light was on 16 hours instead of twelve... what is going to happen.... the plant is 33 days into flowering about 4 foot tall.. any help is appreciated...
