So, my first plant has just started to bud. It's a girl!! Can I still clone it even though it has started to bud? Will it stress the clone out to much and make it a hermaphrodite?

Hey guys, I've been growing my first plant for about six weeks. (seeds just out of a bag i bought.) I switched the lights to 12/12 one week ago and I havent seen any flowers/hairs/balls anything on the plant so far. what am i doing wrong?
