How early can the sex of a plant be determined?

is it possible to just clip of stems/leaves of a mature plant...then plant them? will they grow? thanks

Basically my friend and i had the idea to grow weed and we just jumped into it...right now we will be 12 weeks in on this thursday (7/16). we have 6 plants, 5 males..1 female..and all of our plants are right at or taller then 6 feet...now when are we gonna be expecting some bud? Thank you -2 newbs
