I just finished my grow box and im getting ready to put in 1 clone and a seed. Should i have the lights on for 24hrs, 12hrs or another cycle?

is it alright to have 4 CFL in a grow box that are half inch from a each wooden wall? i just dont wana start a fire without all that concentrated on one area. So is it safe or am i just askin for bad news?
