    Root rot in coco

I grow in coco also and have had "off" odors coming from my grow. I never removed the plant from the pot to look at the roots so I dont know if they were brown or not. I was afraid it might be root rot so I searched around and read about using pool shock in the reservoir. I found this thread...

Using food grade H202 (35%) in hydro reservoir

instead of making a solution with the Shock, add it dry to your reservoir instead. you need a scale accurate to 0.01 grams 0.1g per 10 gallons of water is 1ppm chlorine. i believe that is based on 62% cal hypo. yours is stronger, correct? so to be on the safe side, measure out 0.2...

Keeping a sterile res in dwc Shock Chlorine Advice

Coco is hydro, soil is not hydro. I ran NFT rails prior to moving to Coco. I use Chlorine at roughly 3-5 PPM in both. I use dilute pool shock. I prefer the Ca Hypochlorite versus the Sodium Hypochlorite (household bleach). You use it in such a small amount you can easily get by with the Sodium...

    ROOT ROT PREVENTION

Bleach work well. Add 3 ppm to everything you add to the reservoir like top off and rez changes. Here's a dilution calculator probably already posted: Chlorine dilution calculator The local brand I use is very pure and almost totally clear. Pool Shock still contains sodium, I would argue the...

How to Properly Aerate a Small (or large) Rez

Nice clean white massive population of roots, I'm sure you are using some kind of sterilization protocol to prevent root rot. Do you use chlorine or hydrogen peroxide for keeping a sterile DWC? I highly doubt anyone would get clean roots like that without any kind of sterilization...

Sterile growers - here's how to test the strength of your UC Roots, Clear Rez, or bleach.

You need to test their strengths before you start because they could be degraded. I just tested some brand new bleach and it was around half the strength on the label. I know a lot of sterile growers use powdered pool shock but I don't know if that degrades over time. Bleach definitely does. I...

    ROOT ROT PREVENTION

People are hesitant to use something as simple as Clorox bleach. But if used properly it's perfectly fine to use. I used it for years and never had an issue with root rot. Well I did one time but then I started adding bleach and never had an incident again.
