Yea, I do the same thing. I also keep my door closed with the window cracked so its a tad bit cooler in my room compared to the rest of the house. Also, try moving the bigger fan so its blowing upwards unless your closet is enclosed at the top.

Wheres the intake coming from? How much are those fans rated in CFM? If your outside temps are around that it wont be easy to lower the temps but taking intake from a cooler place could help. Higher temps tend to have more problems so the mid 80s are the perfect temp in my opinion.

The reason why I was asking about the soil is I heard but havnt tested myself is that MG is acidic compared to other types of soils. So by adding the lime could have made it to acidic for your plants and locking out some nutrients. I use Fox farm Ocean crest(Something like that) works very well...
