I did have the light a lot closer to the tops but burnt a top or two, i probably have gone a little over kill and moved them too far away, any advice how close i can put a 400 hps?

its just the way the pic is taken the grow room is 4 x 4 and is on a thermostat, my problem is that i dont seem to be able to grow plants i seem to grow trees and that is with topping as well.

I know you are growing in soil by the way you said i am growing in mg soil also the pictures is a big give away. You can and should still increase the oxeygen that the root's take.

get more light's on, make sure they are daylight bulbs (6500kelvin) for vegging and 2700 kelvin for flowering. As for the plant pot's the only thing you need to do with them is make sure that light can't get to the roots. Think about getting a sprayer and mist them once a day till they take...

ye thats the idea, i used to stick mine on a timer a hour before i water'd. I just stuck a airstone in the watering can. I think the main prob you have is the amount of water and the amount of light's.

it's what you put in fish tanks to oxeygenate the water, increased oxeygen in the water and it will accelerate the rate of growth. I grow just in water that is oxeygenated all the time and the difference is unbelieveable. You can pick them up for next to nothing.

get some more water on them and more light's, could do with putting a air pump with your water, root's need oxeygen. get ph to 5.2-6.5 i think with soil.

get rid of the slow release nutes, that is your first problem, are you using air pump in your water res, is you water ph'd, how much wattage are you putting on them and what spectrum are you using (2700 or 6500), have you mixed in some vermiculite for airation, make sure that light cant get to...

just looking at the pics, cant help thinking that if you are going to put the ballast's inside the grow room get a small ossilating fan blowing on them. You will increase the life span.

thank for the advice, but sticking the cfl's under the canopy will start to burn the leaves as they turn to the light's i think. They get suprisingly hot. Might see about trimming some leave away so that it will fit, but would this stress the plant?
