Do I plug the light timer into the ballast or do I plug the ballast into the timer?

Depending on the wattage of your ballast you may need a relay to stop your timers burning out and melting the contacts.

    Which hydro setup to use?

Drip feeders or DWC, drippers might be better if you've got a limited space though. Waterfarms look quite good too but not got any experience of using them.

    Reducing PH for beginners

Can anyone offer me any advice on how to best to change my PH? I live in a hard water area and my nute mix is coming in at around 7.1. I've checked the soil and it seems to be around 6.8 so in the good range but don't want to ruin my hard work setting it up with the wrong PH nute water.

Should I have my screen that low? I've started training my girls with lots of lst to get lots of main stems but the pots are still about 9-10" from the screen (plants are probably about 5 inches from it) should I put something underneath the pots to raise them a bit nearer?

I'm no expert but as the holes in the screen too small, also they look like they'll have an edge which I'd imagine isn't ideal once you are training the plant through it. *disclaimer* I am not very knowledgeable and am on my first scrog too the above is just based on what I've read on here...

Nutrients do they work or not!!

I generally don't use any nutes on the seedlings other than a 1/2 strength solution of bio bizz root juice for a week after they've sprouted and either gone into the soil or rockwool plugs. You have to be very careful with small plants definitely sounds like burn from the nutes. Unless you're...

It will grow under a normal bulb but not particularly well, as said above heat will be an issue with a normal bulb though and if you've got inside a bin lid with it close it's going to get very hot.

Did some more again tonight got most of them sideways now, might have to move them up nearer the screen though. I built the screen to be future proof as only using 2 gallons pots at m and they're quite low so got about 4-5 inches from the tops to the screen. I just wish I'd known about scrog...
