I was wondering if it's ok to use the non-spiral CFLs? talking about the small ones just not spiral, not t5 and alike. They have the same Wattage and they are not fat, which is why I need them, to cramp more in a small place. Any difference then? thanks!

Using another power source is not the problem, having 2 power cords going into a PC is. well at least stealth-wise.

I have a couple of questions: Should i worry about humidity as regarding to the ATX PSU functionality? I live in a humid area already (~70%) and my PC is open and working fine... so I am not sure about this. second, Is there a way to convert the PSU to power CFLs? the PSU only output 3v, 5v...

Hi, I've sketched this design/setup (using google sketchup) for a PC Grow box. It is based on the dimensions of a case i already have. The dimensions are L584mm (~23") x W227mm (~9") x H536mm (~21"). I've already gutted the case and cut 2 plywoods, another one is on the way. The sketch is...

besides, i don't see odour control.. and the light escapes from the side fan and maybe from other areas they don't show you...

And by the way, I read somewhere that topping is only good if I want to take a clone, otherwise i'm wasting a branch (there was a remark in the thread i read that topping wont give me two branches out of the one I cut...)

But he has a point there, I need to train the plant. and if I understand what training means. then the light should be far from the plant in order for it to stretch. then when it stretches i bend the branches and tie them to the screen... no?

What about the CFLs? I want to make them portable, so i just place them a couple of inches above the plants? I've seen some vids on youtube and around where people who used SCROG (and got beautiful yield out of 1 short plant) didn't put the lights close to the plants, instead the lights were...

Building a false back for the case is too much effort. I'd rather have some light coming out instead of having a weird looking case... :)

Thanks! I also thought of placing a plywood as a buffer between the fans and the rest of the case (inside the case). ofcourse the plywood would have a hole on the bottom or upper side as opposed to the place of the fans (if the fans are outtake-upper the hole is at the bottom and vice-versa).

Excellent suggestion! thank you so much! Right now i'm thinking how to set the Screen, whether horizontal (small, as the dimensions of the case are 23" x 9") or vertical (larger - 23" x 21"). problem with the vertical solution is that i have to figure out how to place the lamps so they don't...

you mean the tunnel comes out of the box and not inward... hmmm, good idea. Maybe a plastic "roof" tilted 60deg downwards from the top of the vents... like so-> /|fan| i don't want it to be too suspicious... Thanks for the idea anyway!
