That is very true ! Contrary to popular belief you can sustain living soil indoors with chemical nutes . It doesnt kill em , the salts leave the soil with nothing for them to eat . You just have to keep em fed.

Eggshells are a calcium source but it's not readily available they are good for composting to add calcium .It's just that they take time to break down and are not a quick fix at all .

MG soil has nothing really great for growing cannabis "out of the bag " . You HAVE to ammend it properly to get it to work right . Not a good choice for newbs to use it causes to many problems . To be honest none of those pics are focused enough to provide a good read for ya . Not sayin there...

Man 5g in 2 days . U have to be cooking these pots in the sun . In otherwords its simply evaporating . At the temps that cause that to happen your root system is surely sufferring . Might want to consider burying those pots or shading them with something . Went through this last year with some...

Oh your in veg , How long has it been since the overfeed? Burn usally shows in 3 days in soil . If its been 3 days and they are not looking any worse then dont worry . If the nute burn is continuing go ahead and flush again . 1 gallon in that size pot was probally good .
