from my experience, if a seed sinks, it means basically nothing, like what golden said above me some shells are thinker then others, causing them to sink, and the others not. 2 out of my 10 crops were sinkers and i cant tell a difference

Just make sure to keep the roots in soil when you move it....sunlight will kill roots. Im not sure if how big of a crop were talking about, but if its small just baby them all the way there, make sure NONE tip over.
