If you can put in a speed control, most fans run super quiet at about %75, and nearly silent at %50. I find it's always best to put in a bigger fan than you need and then dial it back.

Run perpetual - the 400 MH in a clone / vegging space, the 1000s in a flower space with the hps on the early flowering plants and the MH on the late.

Hot Shot - No Pest Strips. Get em at most hardware stores or Walmart for around $8 It's like a bug-toxic air freshener. It ended my year-long mite battle in 2 days.

Cold will slow them down but it shouldn't stress them too bad so long as it doesn't get close to freezing. Too high heat without proper venting can toast your bud quickly. Definately go for the low-n-slow CFLs

Yeah, if it doesn't seal pretty tight it won't be good for long term storage. But that's not to say you can't get it to seal - you could pick up some sheet foam at a craft store or rubber gasket material at a hardware store and cut a circle to fit.

Yup. I used the 1/2 in stuff. The radiant barrier would do the same thing but I don't what it's R value is. I like the foam sheets cause the foil backing is reflective, but diffuse; easy to cut and piece together. I got my sheets for $8 - 4x8.

I run a perpetual grow, with a harvesting/cloning cycle every 10 days. I cut clones from the veggin plants ranther than a mother plant. I've been growing like this about 6 years now off a single original plant. So I'm somewhere conservatively maybe in the 150th generation.

If you don't want to actually buy a humidifier- which would be the best option, you can buy the wick material used in them. Leave them sitting upright in a tray of water - the extra evaporation surface area will help. Add a fan, and you've got the same thing as many store bought :)

Use the highest rated fiberglass for the depth you have. Then, lay over that lay a sheet of rigid foil backed foam. If you get the right manufacturer, it'll have a nice reflective foil side. I used it to build my growspace :)
