Im just going by experience and what i have read. Its not stress that produces males but too much stress. Maybe different stains act differently.

You get males form topped plants because stress makes the plant produce male branches. Read up on it. I didn't and now all my plants are male except one weird clone.

Yes its okay, and prolly not a noticeable effect if there is an effect at all. but use neem oil if you don't have a probelm yet.
