go to walmart and buy the value brand drinking water (it's reverse osmosis), also see if they have a RO water dispenser and u can buy the water for about 30-40 cents a gal. you can use distilled water too.. don't use spring water because usually has a 6-7 ph and still too high.

put something on top of the soil. rocks sand hay etc... the idea is to keep light from the moist soil.. if there is light and water you have life, just what bacteria needs to grow.

don't add nutes. your rockwool looks soaked.. shake off excess water, never squeeze. don't put a lot of light on them. at first start with about 1 cfl per plant then add more as they get more leaves. keep cfl about 4-5 inches away from them, then drop them to about 2-3 inches after a week

so i was thinking getting some carbon and customizing my reservoir with a aquarium/fish filter. has this been done before? any ideas what it will do to the water? i assume keep it clean and smelling fresh?

is your pump yellow, like a fire hydrant? you'd flood the town with that pump. joking aside, remember that a pumps efficiency on pumping x amount of Gallons per hour is greatly reduced the more piping you have. so a 600GPH pump with 5 foot pipe would only be something like 400gph.. efficiency...

10 gal is way too small for 4 plants.. i have 3 plants in a 45 gal and hesitated to plant 4 of them (orginal plans) so i decided on 3 plants. one far left, middle and far right. that gives them about 12 inches of room apart. going to try to see how big they will get without interfering with one...

that is fine for now.. i have about 8 26watt on about 3-4 seedlings.. after 2 weeks you may want to double the lighting and consider HPS/MH bulbs.. just watch the temp anything over 80 is getting into hot grounds. keep cfls about 4-5 inches from seedlings until first week, then you can drop...

soft white would work but those are better suited for flower. 6500k is optimal for vegetation growth and 2700k for flowering. you can still use them, but try getting another (or two) 6500k in there .. i'd wait for at least 2-3 weeks or when the plant is 3-6 inches tall before you start nutes...

i got a digital timer with dual outlets for $20 at home depot. has automatic DST, it sets the automatic times and even stores dust/dawn time. also can program about 15-20 custom individual settings. forget those $7 ones that you have to move tabs and clips on a dial. timers have come a long way..

i have a 45 gal tote which is fine in terms of surface space, but it's too damn tall. it's about 24 inches high so that cuts my vertical growth space a lot. where can i find low profile totes, like 12 inches. if only i can find a 3x3x1 container with lid! im brain storming how to make my own...

thanks. i was just a little worried about the rockwool getting too wet, although it's surrounded by about 1 inch of rocks. i think the stone also helps keep alge low because the water is constantly being circulated, the roots go white water rafting ;)
