Might want to add a teaspoon of 3% hydrogen peroxide solution to the reservoir, that'll kill a lot of the fungus or bacteria causing the smell. Also, make sure the water isn't getting too warm.

Try updating the firmware to the latest. If that doesn't work, you might want to do a full restore on the system.

The bulbs that come with the Aerogarden will not put off much heat at all, I would say it's comparable to 3 CFLs. Speaking of CFLs, you are going to need to supplement the stock lights on the Aerogarden. Check out my journal!

I would continue adding nutrients according to the schedule on the bottle. As long as you keep the pH at the proper levels (5.2-5.80), the extra nutrients shouldn't harm the plant. The browning leaves will never recover, but the new growth will be healthy as long as you adjust.

Just buy a kit that looks like this, so you can adjust your pH easily
