You'll need to replace the hood of the AG eventually, since the bulbs are a proprietary design, and cannot be replaced with stronger ones. The stock lights simply don't produce enough light to bring you to harvest, so you might want to invest in a few CFLs right now, and position them directly...

Congrats on your grow! It's an exciting road! :) Just wanted to say if you don't have central air conditioning in your place, you may want to invest in a dehumidifier down the line. When those ladies go into flowering, you don't want the room full of hot moist air, which will cause bud rot.

Most of us with Aerogardens aren't providing medicine to others; it's a stealthy and cost-effective way of maintaining a high-quality personal supply. A grow on your scale requires a lot of space, and therefore a lot more planning to remain covert.

15"-18" is good, but if you're using an HPS, keep in mind that it may encourage stretching during the vegetative stage. You may want to keep the plants low and bushy by placing CFLs directly over each seedling. Also keep the temperature of the room in mind, heat wreaks havoc on seedlings...

Hairy, a 250W HPS as sidelighting is going to be ridiculously good. I got a bargain on an extra 100W HPS ballast, I just wish I had a safe way of positioning it for sidelighting! Can't wait to see those lower buds start thickening up!!!
