Coming up on final harvest for 2013, the house now smells like flowering weed all the time... :)

They look great! You should veg them until you have the close to the coverage you want -- they'll mostly be going *up* when you flip. I'd guess 2-3 more weeks. Gaps of 1"-2" are ok, they'll fill in.

I'm not psyched about harvesting that many plants at once, but it will be nice after :)

The final batch for 2013 has been moved into flowering, 6 Critical Jacks and 4 Pineapple Expresses. They will all harvest shortly before xmas, leaving an empty garden while we're gone. I'm trying to schedule knee surgery for January, so it will remain down until late February would be my guess...

Welcome aboard! If you haven't already bought the geopots, go with the 7 gallon with handles. They are almost the identical footprint of the 5g, but allow for 40% more soil, and (for me, at least) let me avoid having to use anything but RO water and CalMag+. Cheese is the only one of those I've smoked, and it was tasty. I've never grown any of them. Regarding Northern Lights, it, along with Skunk #1 and Big Bud, were my main strains in the late 80s and 90s. It is a fantastic plant. I'm curious to see how it reacts to mainlining.

In addition to the PE and CJ that I'll keep going, I'm considering Blue Hash (fem), Purple Haze (fem), Hazeman P.O.W. (reg) and Northern Lights (reg).

On the smoke report front, the Critical Jack is stony as hell, but has no real flavor. It doesn't taste bad, it's just really neutral. It smells fantastic though, which is strange. The Pineapple Express, however, has lived up to its rep. The smell is awesome, it has a great high, and tastes...

The best of the PE phenos came out at 16.5%.

The best of my Pineapple Express phenos was 16.5%, the best Critical Jack was 19.5%

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of Autos either. On the upside, this Critical Jack tested out at 19.5% !

Quick note to anyone who encounters thrips: Spinosad used in a soil drench + spray takes care of the problem...

Honestly, it's probably for the best in terms of weight of on hand product. There will be plenty jarred up for the downtime, and I should be able to harvest within 12 weeks or so of the new year.

Update: I'm still fighting thrips. I also found out that we're going to be out of town for 2 weeks in December. The combination of the two things means that I'm probably going to just grow out what I've got going right now, and shut down for the month of December. I will bug bomb everything with...

The first one I harvested is juuuuuuust about cured to the point where I can smoke it and not immediately think "needs more jar time". More in a week or two.
