I don't have a problem with fan noise, my biggest thing is the dang air pump. I have seen plans where you build a box and stuff the fan into it with a shit load of insulation all around. Insulated line running into any wall that doesn't have insulation and you should be solid.

I went to the dollar general and bought hemp like rope. I wrapped it around three times and hung it on the ceiling. It is permanent till you cut it down, but it works, and its cheap as hell.
