You can use a green cfl without causing any problems with the plant, I have used them in all my rooms for the last 4 years. Sometimes I forget them on and they stay one for day's at a time, still no issues. I don't know how much heat you will get from them though.

Looks the same as the hydro farm sg ballast. I have two that have been running great for 6 months. I have ten magnetic ballasts that have been work reliably for 2 and some 5 years. You can also rebuild a mag ballast for pretty cheap if you do have a problem.

Had an electrician come today and he is convinced that it was the new ballast. The main is a double 100 amp fuse so it is not that because they blow when they are bad and everything else checks out. I just have to wait and see..

Yes and it doesn't make sense to me either. I have been running for 32 hours now after replacing the ballast without an issue so I'm hoping that that was the problem. If it blows again I'll have an electrician come and check it all out.

I have pushed the air through a carbon filter and it worked fine. Never tried the T so I can't really say but the 400 side may cause enough resistance and presure to slow the air comming through the 100 side but you would need to test it.
