    Why Use Lucas Method?

It truly is a great place to start. One can always start simple and then add only what is necessary for your specific strains, environment and growing medium as you go along. Peace, pot and prudence!

Pruning the top 1 week into flower...

In my opinion it's not a good idea to prune at this point. You want your topping done by a couple weeks before flower at the latest so the plant has time to adjust it's hormones and re-focus the once apical dominance to the lateral branches. Doing this while converting from veg to flower is...

    Why Use Lucas Method?

It might be more complicated of a process than most would undergo, but thankfully most don't have to since Lucas did his homework. There is a nutrient calculator at Angelfire for those that would like to figure it out for themselves. However, i wouldn't say it's unnecessarily complicated...

    Should i bother with MH?

There's always the dual arc option for using one bulb all the way thru...

    Why Use Lucas Method?

The quick and simple answer: It's all about plant-specific nutrient ratios. Lucas came up with some generic ratios that can be adapted to by using various amounts of popular nutrients. Others have adapted Lucas' formula and dialed it in for their specific substrate/environment and it still...

Omfg i may have just perfected cloning!!!!

9 hours? Naaaaah. Splitting the stem does expose more natural rooting hormone and can give you more rooting sites, however it can also slow the process. Personally, growing perpetually, i don't WANT root growth that fast. I need the time to get the other girls flowered up and harvested, so...

    Why Use Lucas Method?

DITTO! However, i'm doing the 6/9 micro/bloom ratios in 100% coco. Strength adjusted as needed on a plant-to-plant basis.

What Is Your Idea Of Freedom?

Freedom is, in a so-called 'civilized' society, simply an impossibility. Freedom under government = oxymoron.

    Two importent qustions...

As far as canopy control, i think running a scrog might work for you. The best timers are digital. Just make sure it is rated for the proper amperage for the ballast/circuit you're plugging it into. Here's what i use...

difference between veg lighting and flowering lighting

I use T5's for clones, a decent grade MH for veg (focusing on the blue spectrum) and switch to dual arcs (mostly HPS - red spectrum - with some MH) for flower. Many folks just run straight HPS for flower with great results as well. However, if you're trying to use one bulb for the entire grow...

    Good strains for a newb?

I've found both bubblegum and hash plant to be pretty damn resilient. Top em to keep the height down or run a scrog and enjoy. Both get very frosty under the right conditions and are early yielders.

First experience with BHO, holy fuck!

Definitely not in a defiant mood, so i'll post here. :bigjoint: Simple, really - once you have the BHO. I just get a double boiler going (as simple as filling a pot with boiling water and submerging another pot inside it). Throw in a cube (or two, or three, or four) and let it melt. Once...

First experience with BHO, holy fuck!

Although i do enjoy BHO - and even make butter from it, rather than herbs - quick wash is easier and much less dangerous to prepare. I just rinse and strain the ground buds with 190 proof grain alcohol, rather than mess with flammables or iso. Just my thing. Hash is THE WAY. 8-)

    Magnesium Def? (Pics of course)

Did you check pH/EC of runoff? I had a similar problem with a rogue purple frost and - for some reason - that particular pot just decided to build up salts and pH went all whack which lead to lock out and, as a result, def. Worth a look if you haven't done so already.

Need to dry some buds in two hours....

There's always an oven dry, but dude, if you're trying to prove you've got some GOOD bud she needs to chill and just have a lil patience, IMO. It's hard to represent in the flavor dept when you're in a hurry. At least you'll get an idea of the potency though, assuming you're about ready to...

    reverse osmosis water

I'm familiar with the pre-charging technique as well. Never done it myself, so it's interesting to hear that just a presoak is keeping you straight using R/O all the way through the grow. I'm all for keeping it simple and using the least amount of products necessary. 20Kw is a pretty good...

    Coco Growers Unite!

Dry, cured weight is where the rubber meets the road. No sense in really weighing anything else. I'm sure that was what he was referring to. That's a good number to shoot for, too. Best of luck with it!

    Help with coco!

Sounds like you'd be fine watering once per day, but the plants will ultimately tell the tale. I've never personally used the chunks, just straight hydrofarm organic coco, but if anything they might want it MORE than once a day with that mix. I'd just start with daily watering and watch how...

    PLease help! Calyxes or balls?

Nice diagnosis. I was thinking the same thing from the description. Could have always made lemonade by starting your own line of genetics. Besides, it never hurts to have a few seeds around. :bigjoint:

    Cloning question!

Not many. I usually leave only a couple small leaves at the very top of the cutting. It takes very little photosynthesis/foliar nutrient absorption to keep them healthy long enough to get some roots going (usually within 10-14 days for me).
