Drainage Solutions for Coco DTW Setups?

I'm kind of on the fence right now. I'm currently growing 4 per 4x4 grow tent, but I've recently been contemplating 1 monster plant per 4x4.

Drainage Solutions for Coco DTW Setups?

My drain runs to a sump in the basement and gets pumped out to the backyard. The problem with getting flood trays is that my closest hydro store is about an hour away and on top of that, they're currently out of stock. Bummer. No matter what tray I get, the pots would go on risers anyway. The...

Drainage Solutions for Coco DTW Setups?

I'm going to grab a couple if I ever see them in the hydro store for a good price. Until then, I've been looking at these HVAC drain trays for almost half the price. I could possibly modify these for drainage and just put the plants on risers.

Drainage Solutions for Coco DTW Setups?

Those were the trays I was talking about in the OP. I find the 4x4 Bontanicare for $100, kinda high but I'd do it. Them Bam, $225 to ship, $325 total cost, yea no I'm good.

Drainage Solutions for Coco DTW Setups?

I’m comfortable connecting some piping when needed, though I wouldn’t consider myself a pro by any means. I’ve come across those drain trays before, it’s a solid idea. The only thing that held me back was the amount of surface contact between the fabric pots and the tray. It seemed like that...

Drainage Solutions for Coco DTW Setups?

I do actually have a drain nearby, I ran a PVC drain line along the length of my lung room so each tent can tie into it. I’ve already been using a condensate pump for my dehumidifier, and I had another one set up for a Floraflex drainage system. That setup didn’t work too well for me. I wasn’t a...

Drainage Solutions for Coco DTW Setups?

Are you talking about wicking the waste water?

Drainage Solutions for Coco DTW Setups?

That’s a great idea. I was actually considering doing something similar instead of modifying each individual planter like i said in the OP. I was thinking of running the drain to a condensate pump and connecting it to the drain line that runs across the lung room. The only issue I ran into was...

Drainage Solutions for Coco DTW Setups?

I've noticed a lot of growers are using coco with a drain to waste setup, and I’m curious about how everyone is handling drainage. Especially since coco needs to be fertigated multiple times a day during flower until a good amount of runoff. I tried the Floraflex drainage system but personally...

Thriving to Struggling Overnight — Need Eyes on My Setup

@Delps8 It seems like you have a pretty solid understanding when it comes to lighting.. In my veg tent, I’m using a bit of an older setup with a light that runs solely on a Meanwell driver. It has two adjustment dials labeled “Lo” and “Vo.” Both seem to dim or brighten the light to some degree...

Thriving to Struggling Overnight — Need Eyes on My Setup

I went through the PDF you shared, and while I can’t say I fully grasp the technical details in the first part of your reply, I think I understand the general idea. It sounds like you're saying that calibrating my PPFD meter at 3000K vs. 3500K wouldn’t really make much of a difference, and that...

Thriving to Struggling Overnight — Need Eyes on My Setup

At this point, I’m starting to see that running Autopots with Jack’s 321 might not be the most ideal combination as is. If I do continue using this setup, I’m realizing that regular top-fed flushes and closer monitoring of root zone EC might be necessary to keep things in check. I’ve also been...

Thriving to Struggling Overnight — Need Eyes on My Setup

I’m noticing a new symptom showing up in the flower tent, and it started shortly after the flush. They’re currently in week 5 of flower. I decided to flush because the medium was reading between 3.0 and 4.4 EC, which seemed too high at this stage. I’m also starting to think it could be some sort...

Thriving to Struggling Overnight — Need Eyes on My Setup

Yeah, kind of, but just to clarify, there’s a wicking mat between the plants and that pool of water, so the plants aren’t actually sitting directly in water. It’s the capillary mat that sits in the water and draws the nutrients up to the roots. In theory, the plants should only absorb what they...

Thriving to Struggling Overnight — Need Eyes on My Setup

Right now, I’ve removed the capillary mat and have it soaking in a peroxide solution, so I’m just top-feeding for the time being. I’ll stick with that approach until things get sorted out. Once everything is back on track, I’ll reintroduce them to the AutoPot system and, hopefully, with...

Thriving to Struggling Overnight — Need Eyes on My Setup

I’m starting to think the issue may have been the light intensity all along. At first, the plants looked like they were recovering, but when I checked again a few hours later, they seemed to go right back to how they were, even though the EC was where it should be. That’s when I started...

Thriving to Struggling Overnight — Need Eyes on My Setup

Just a quick update — it hasn’t even been 24 hours since the flush, and I’m already starting to see signs of recovery. It’s looking more and more like the high EC and salt buildup were causing a lockout. They’re definitely not fully bounced back yet, and I wasn’t planning to share any photos...
