    Matching Drivers and COBs

You could go with 6 or 7. no problem either way but using 7 gets you more bang for your buck.

Check out this thread, shows the difference from the Vero V1 to V2, some significant changes to the spectra. The Vero 4000K 80CRi V2 is looks like a very good balance IMO. https://www.rollitup.org/t/vero-v2.860217/#post-11309368

Good call, 10% Vero29 V2 price drop, that must have been in just the past several days too. new prices added in

Yes for the 4000K Vero I divided the PPFD by .948, which gave the numbers a 5.2% boost. Something I did note about the 4000K 80 CRi, it is a really great color for human vision purposes

50W passive cooled temperature test to try and confirm the efficiency. Ambient was 69F, the heatsink stabilized at 185.2F. The heatsink (3.5"X6") was hung horizontally in a large room with no air movement until the temp stabilized. Amps and volts were monitored to make sure dissipation stayed at...

House Grow -- How big is TOO BIG!!!

Dont take my word for it, have a look at CREE spec sheets for yourself. They are manufacturing COBs that make well over 200 lumens/W in 3500K and they are available to growers in small quantities here. @Growmau5 recently pulled over 2grams/dissipation W in a documented grow, with a light that he...

Also, when Bridgelux updated the spec sheets in September they improved their lumens slightly and improved their droop curve graph slightly One thing I still need to check on, whether Apogee used the Vero 1.2 or Vero 2.0 when they made the correction factors.

Exactly, the glass is protects the aluminum but also cuts down on the reflectivity significantly. If you use bare polished aluminum, I am not sure it could be cleaned? @REALSTYLES also made a great point, for the cost of buying mirrors you could tweak your grow in much more productive ways...

    Matching Drivers and COBs

Yes you should be able to get full current or even slightly above. I estimate your COBs would be 237.3V once warmed up. The driver maxes at 238-239V. If your driver is a B version it is probably capable of 1090mA. If It is an A version possibly as much as 1150mA. The driver will self limit the...

    6500 vs 5700 vs 5000K for veg

That is a good question and kind of hard to explain. I am not saying that 6500K won't work, but if I had to choose from a bunch of COBs that were all the same bin (DB), I would choose the lowest color temp. Some of the reasons I suspect that- -The main reason, I would rather most of the LED's...

    6500 vs 5700 vs 5000K for veg

You can get 4000K 70 CRi in DB from Cutter. Plenty of blue but without sacrificing too much of everything else. I expect it would be the top dog for vegging because when it comes down to it, I think we should use as little blue as possible, as long as we are not sacrificing efficiency or getting...

With a COB running at 50W, 15" distance, without reflective walls in the test area, I measured a consistent 25-40% increase in intensity by adding simple painted plastic reflectors to a COB. That is primarily because it is illuminating a smaller area, the desired area. The test is easily...

Organic super soil mix from scratch - for ROLS

When I add leaf mold I pick from the layer that is already almost broken down, often white strands running through and smells great. The few leaves that do make it in tend to break down quickly in the presence of all the other nutes, heat and damp. Great stuff! Yes if you are careful you can...

    CXB spectrum vs output

LOL I requested a promo code from the last year to share with lampbuilders and they said aluminum prices had gone up. Except... But in the other hand, I am grateful they do business with us at all and I love their products, so I try to wait for the 10% off promos.

@wietefras What I am saying is that any lateral light scattered by the reflector in the wrong direction (back into the reflector) has a higher chance of being redirected correctly because of the angle of the reflector, as opposed to light that hits the walls and scatters in the wrong...

That is good info although taking into consideration lux meters are based on lumens and designed for the human vision curve. Since we cannot see reds/deep reds very well, the lux meter will significantly penalize the 3000K and we have no idea the SPD of the generic LED which might have higher...

Why do some want high CRI?

That is correct, from this thread, although I think Mr Flux adjusted some of his LER numbers slightly later on https://www.rollitup.org/t/cree-cxa-analysis.743645/ It helps expose the unintentionally misleading SPD graphs posted in Manufacturer spec sheets. They simply line up the highest peak...
