Bad News About LED vs HPS

Bleaching with a 5w LED from 8 inches? I've had plants within 6 inches of a Mars 300 panel (middle of the panel, a heck of a lot more than 5w of LED) with absolutely no bleaching. Heck, I have Pineapple Chunk that's trying its very best to reach out and touch my COBs - Vero 29 Gen7 D's at 80%...

Bad News About LED vs HPS

Okay, so we're missing some rather vital data from the set - what intensity (lumens, watts, PPFD) was used? what was the distance of each light to the plants? most importantly, they selected one HPS (no bulb/ballast/brand info) and are comparing it to a KINDLED panel (outdated tech...) and an...

    Junction box for cob led?

Not really man, Home Depot carries the kind of junction box you use for home installs, and the kind of cable grips that are used in panels and knockouts. The kind of junction box and cable glands that are IP67 certified are not sold there.

    Junction box for cob led?

You need PG9 size Cable Glands (sometimes called wire nuts or cable nuts). You also want to find a box that has at least some fire-resistance rating - It should never be necessary but hey, peace of mind. Amazon stocks them, as does Mouser and Digikey.

    Would 4 Vero 29s cover a 32"x32" tent?

Depending on the version, you are also under-driving them, which means that you're getting slightly more light for every watt.

Diatomaceous Earth - powder the top of your soil with it gently a few hours after every watering and it'll cut the little bastards to ribbons. It'll take a couple weeks of treatment, but they really go away with that stuff.

    Would 4 Vero 29s cover a 32"x32" tent?

There are 3 versions of the Vero 29 Gen7. The reason for the different versions is that a COB is a bunch of really small diodes all under one phosphor layer (COB literally means Chip On Board). All these little chips are set up in parallel strings. Depending on how they're wired, different...

    Homemade colloidial silver

If you're using 99% plus pure silver and true distilled water, the laser test is more than good enough. If you keep going till the water takes on a slight silvery-grey tinge you've basically reached the saturation point.

Help please I'm going to run out of room

Binder clips, rubber garden ties and twist-tie reel. If you're lucky, you might even find all of this at the dollar store. The binder clip goes on the edge of the pot to serve as an anchor, then you take a 1-2" section of the rubber garden tie and bend it into an "S" shape. then cut a piece...

    Thrips, Right?

The problem with using Abamectin/Invermectin is that it is rather toxic and can persist in the environment for a few days to a few weeks if no UV is present to photo-degrade it. As for pyrethrin, unless you get really unlucky and your pest population develops resistance, 4 spray sessions is...

    Thrips, Right?

Pyrethrin isn't exactly a 'hippy-dippy' remedy. Hit thrips with it and watch them seize and fall off the plant.

    Thrips, Right?

The best bet to see em is to quickly spray your plants with pure water ( just a light mist, don't soak them) just after lights on. Gets the little bastards excited.

    Thrips, Right?

That is a thrip on the leaf :) They try and stay parallel to the leaf veins so to be harder to see. Safer's End All (insecticidal soap with pyrethrin) works really good and the pyrethrin breaks down within a few days. Neem works well as a maintenance program, but not to completely kill them...

Nah, they start to look like shit towards the end of flower. If you have to do anything give her water with 1/4 dose of bloom nutrients, make sure to pH the water. If she still looks crappy next week, switch to pH'd tap water for the flush and flush for 5 days before chopping

    Help!!!!

That's a very good attitude to have towards growing. It's all a learning process! The hardest thing to do when starting out is to get to the head space where you're not constantly checking in on your plants or adjusting things - I'm guilty of tweaking my feed schedule and it took two grows till...

    Help!!!!

"feeding" straight distilled water for more than one to two days is a recipe for unhappy plants. Plants dislike large changes, so if you go from pH'd tap water or light feeding to only distilled water without any buffers the plant doesn't like it. This can contribute to toxicity issues or...
