To help avoid stretching you should always pull the highest cola below the rest of the canopy, it helps to create more colas so your plant doesnt put all the energy into one.

I think you will be fine either way. The SCROG method is still an option IMO. I have used used both techniques and prefer SCROG. The sooner you get a net up the better because the longer you train in veg the better you will be in flower. Either way will produce great results and you look like...

That should help out. Just keep an eye on your temps and keep in mind that HPS run hotter than MH so when you flip to flower your temps will be higher than they are now.

I use to run my room like this and I also had heat problems. I started running the same CFM fan that use as exhaust to push cool air back inside my room. My temps went from mid 95F to low 70sF
