Let's Talk About How to Harness Hybrid Vigor and Potency

It's close. Let's try to make this simple. It can get complicated but I'm trying to make the concepts very easy to understand. The idea is to cross two inbred strains that breed true. To create an inbred true breeding line of seed is simple. You grow out a population of seeds, lets say 10 seeds...

So, you want to get a growers license in Washington State, let's do the math. The government wants 25% of the retail value of everything you grow. Let's say an Oz goes for $250 retail in the shops. This is where CO prices are at. The government wants 25% of the retail value of your oz which is...

So you are saying that by first Cubing your lines, then doing a cross of the Cubed lines you can maximize the benefits of the hybrid vigour in your F1? Yes! Two inbred lines crossed will create an F-1 generation of seed. This seed will have hybrid vigor and tend to bring the dominant...

Starting from a clone is fine, all a clone is, is a previous cross. This also makes it easier. Cross to the clone, grow those out, choose a male if your clones female, cross the male progeny back to the clone. Grow those out and choose a male among those seeds and cross back to the clone. Now...

    The French Cannoli` Hash Thread

There's two schools of thought on hash making it appears. I guess a fella could say Frenchy's method and Matt Rises method. Both use similar methods to extract the trichomes then use very different methods after that. Has anyone had the opportunity to use the same raw product to perform both...

So You Want to get a Growers license, Let's do the Math

Now I hear Washington wants to eliminate medical home grows. I suppose the point is sort of moot considering when its legal Jan. 1, when everyone can grow 6 plants is it, indoors? This is the state attempting to monopolize the market. It's like instead of allowing home brewers to brew their own...

Wow, I must have really come off sounding like a clod in my past posts Shawns. I'm not very good at blogging apparently. It's hard to tell tone of voice and inflections when just typing. For instance when I commented on the Cali big ball plants, it was not my attention to say you're an idiot...

"That doesn't mean it is for top shelf nugs could be the schwag" That's a reasonable assumption, however if you search pot centers in CO you will see what various strains sell for, many shops sell TGA strains. The truth is, CO is experiencing a glut of weed now. This may change when it goes...

So You Want to get a Growers license, Let's do the Math

If they sell retail yes. Remember the retailer who sells a $200 oz will have to pay $50 in tax. The most he can pay the grower and processor is $125 at most. After your $100 payout it taxes per oz all the grower/processor would make is $25 an oz. Honestly the way they've set this up is a...

Why can't a grower protect his seed stock like corn?

Here's a pm I received that I found very interesting and thought I'd share it, ---> It has to b a clone or S1 it cant have been in circulation for >year to z public and cant b a F1(Durban/OG) since thats something that can b reproduced without any real knowledge of breeding. Then it has to not b...

    The French Cannoli` Hash Thread

Ya, it's tough because too much washing may degrade the hash and not enough you lose trichs. I guess that's where the art of cannabis takes place.

Why can't a grower protect his seed stock like corn?

Thanks for your insight. I thought only GMO corn could be patented. If that's the case pot seed may be able to be patent protected when and if it's ever a legal cash crop.

Why can't a grower protect his seed stock like corn?

Ya, I think this is probably GMO corn. Just think, if we are able to genetically modify our cannabis seed for say disease or drought resistance we can patent the strain seed. The previous poster is probably right, when Monsanto and Pioneer get in the game it should probably be expected. However...
