i gotta disagree with that. i was moving some plants around the other day, and slid a tall one under my t5, and it just about smoked the whole top. i wouldn't let mine get any closer then 2" with a fan.

what's the amp rating? I bought a cheap one kinda like that to run my 8" inline, but i've been to nervous to use it, and the fan is only 2 amps. Your lights are probably around 4 amps. If Iam5toned is around, he would be the one to ask.

get ya some small florescents for now, and keep them close to the plants. Then go to a online hydro store( i use greners) and they will have lighting kits. if you go with a digital ballast you can use mh and hps with it.
