certifiable screw-up in the span of 5 hours -for better side coverage, last night i mirrorcoated w/ reflective tape the inside of the "grow room". the current grow room is an empty 5-gal bucket sitting on the dirt around my plant. it's the ideal size for now, so no probs there. -plant got...

my G13 runt is looking mighty fine tonight. no spider mites visible. daily leaf growth visible. gaining some good height. i'm not getting my hopes up too high but right now it's smooth sailing. lights going off @ 10am and back on at 4pm. i'm still running my 19on/6off light cycle. couple more...

got my hands on foxfarm "Don't Bug Me" coz it sounded more natural than the pest strips. no spider mites yet today, but yeah good idea to keep an eye open. i heard they have a 7 to 9 day breeding cycle. rewatered pot, got runout, plant is in full swing. node spacing pretty damn tight. still a...

http://foxfarmfertilizer.com/products_pest1.html Fox Farm Don't Bug Me someone on grasscity recommended this. it says it's natural, derived from flowers, kills on contact, breaks down quickly & doesn't persist in the area, can be used right up to harvest, etc. sounds just about perfect! i gotta...

thanks! i'll look into that... 2 small updates... 1- even after washdown/rinseoff, a couple hours later there was 1 spider mite. physically removed it w/ clean instrument. since then i have seen none. let's keep it that way 2 - "local loser" plant in 80oz jar: tips of original 2 leaves are...

mixed up a 10:1 ratio of water:alcohol, added a few drops of dawn antibacterial soap as an emulsifier (to get the alcohol/water to mix), sprayed down all surfaces on the plant above soil, waited 5 minutes, thoroughly rinsed off w/ tap water. i'll check for those buggers again through the night...

well, 2 things: the "grow room" now consists of the 5 gallon bucket filled w/ soil & the plant in the center, another 5 gallon bucket with the bottom cut out and sitting loosely on the dirt, with a $6 12-watt 4-inch fan mounted on that empty bucket, and the ufo illuminator right on top of all...

G13 right after final transplant is still achieving nice healthy green progress. those bottom 2 leaves are still green/yellow, i.e. not getting any worse, thankfully. the upper plant is visibly growing daily. i see a new set of leaves every day, every other day. my plant is still tiny tiny tiny...

sort of and sort of not. i think it's fine. i didn't compact it. we'll see. kinda late to go making changes now but at least i'm learning for next time ok now that the plant is in its permanent container, some more quick questions: better to water day or night? how often to water? eyeball it...

2nd pair of leaves (healthy, and healthy from there on up) has surpassed in surface area and size the original set of leaves i was worried about (paler green, closer to yellow throughout). from a strictly photosynthesis viewpoint, i'm not worried about those bottom 2 leaves that much anymore...

    * * * * * i fully expect several days of stunted growth as the plant recovers to its new setup. my expectations are mid-to-low for now. will keep updated periodically

gently lifted plant back out of container, shook the container several times to cause mini-earthquakes & let the soil crack up, refilled it to almost the top again, reinserted plant, rewatered it. it's got 2 gallons or more now. no runout. will keep an eye on things

what do you do about soil shrinkage after it has absorbed water? just leave it as is, or try to fill it back in? seems like it would be hard to fill back in safely

ok roughly a gallon & a half now. still no runout but it's plenty until later tonight. "local loser" plant's roots have totally pierced the jiffypot and i just noticed. time for this plant to go in an 80oz pickle jar for now. honestly i don't care if it lives or dies. sooner than later, i will...

yes i did have root spinout, if that means that the roots reached as far as they could go, ran into a wall (jiffypot which hadn't decomposed yet) and they turned a little curly like pigtails. i cut off the curly parts, cut 'em to right under the side walls of the rootball, like 1/4" to 1/2...

quickie questions: - using about 70% oceat forest, about 20% miracle gro seed starting potting soil, about 10% perlite, filling a 5 gallon tub. is this ok? (higher % of seed starter soil right around rootball) - foxfarm bag says water thoroughly. using about 80 oz straight tap water for...
