what medium are you growing in?

I assume this is normal but I figured it was worth double checking. These are about 6-8" tall and are in a 50/50 mix of coco and perlite. I used a bit of clonex and placed them on a seedling heat mat and a 4' T5HO but I'm only using 1 bulb until they root. They're in a tote as a humidity dome.

Ive never done the experiment myself but in nature flowering plants receive more red spectrum light (2700k). I would bet that it makes a difference for sure. The amount of difference is hard for me to say. Are you talking about cfl's the whole way?

they look great. at 5 weeks it's normal for this to start happening. You can always trim the yellow leaves. As long as the top leaves dont start yellowing you might not even need to feed it nitrogen.

You have plenty to grow some nice plants. If I were you, and had the option, i would build a compost tea brewer and start making teas. I grow 100% organic and EWC tea is truly amazing stuff. The point is that all that nutrients you need are in the soil, organic matter, sand. silt. clay, rocks...

Does anyone have an opinion about the difference in spectrums? T5's are 6500k but MH is 4200k. (not a Hortilux bulb). MH definitely makes it more difficult to determine how green the plants are

I use a 2ft 4 lamp T5 (side lighting) and a 400w metal halide at 50% power for veg, and a 600W HPS for flower. Rkymtnman has solid advice. I keep my veg lights at a lower wattage because I don't want my electric bill any higher than it needs to be. I grow in the same tent sizes mentioned above...

i guess the change in light time couldve contributed but I dont think with a short time that was for sure what did it. Sometimes a bit of bad luck is all it takes.

If you can give them a little more light, then add it. If not, they should be ok for another week. My only concern here is them being in the same pot.

this looks good to go. just make sure to fully clean everything between brews. Remove the biofilm, or you could risk going anaerobic :-)
