Depending on where it snapped (although I assume it's at the bottom) it may live. If it snapped above some growth it might just be severely stunted, but eventually start growing again.

I'm surprised this hasn't been said, but HPS lights supposedly give 130-150% the lumen/watt as a MH light. Basically, HPS lights are more efficient. So either way, you're good to go. Although I've just been using a 400W Hortilux HPS bulb and it's been doing great for veging and flowering...
