I found leaf size will depend a lot on environmentals. High heat will make them somewhat more slender etc. A lot of it has to do with genetics though but they will vary somewhat due to growing conditions.

The leaves are just telling you it has too much water. Water with less volume and make sure you have drainage holes. Next time mix some perlite into your dirt to help with drainage and water retention problems.

RO water or Tap? I use the technoflora line in a soiless grow and have had problems with Mag and Sulfur using tap water. I am pretty sure my tap water is high in calcium and locks the Sulfur out.

Pretty much why I suggested a hotplate and not an open flame. Ethanol isn't that volatile though and people cook with it on open flame all the time. A jar full of it burning could cause some headaches though :/

Get a soil probe and ignore the ph runoff imo. The runoff can be misleading because there are so many variables involved when it passes through the soil. I.e. did it disolve some of the lime in the soil. Did some of the nutrients stay behind. and on and on.

Do you not find it harder to manicure after being dried? I tried both ways and much prefer to manicure before I dry. I find that the leaves are still sticking out and easy to snip off and it also doesn't disturb the trichomes from pulling the leaf off the bud when it wraps around and dries.
