TIPS ON DUCTING for air cooled hoods

Anyone ever run the filter outside the room with this setup: INSIDE ROOM: air cooled hood (open on one side with dust cap and possibly an elbow facing upward) =>in-line fan => OUTSIDE ROOM carbon filter

Should I over OVER size my exhaust fan?

Kind of the responses I figured. Anybody running a 6” Terrabloom ECMF-150 (not the silver duct booster fan)

Should I over OVER size my exhaust fan?

The space I plan on using is only about 112 cubic feet. A 6 inch 350-400 cfm fan should easily do the job for this size area and scrub with no problem but I’d like to prepare for the worst.. an 8 inch fan basically costs the same as a 6” (difference of $9 between Vortex S600 and S800).. would...

    DYI Scrubber

I’ve successfully made DIY scrubbers out of HVAC duct caps, a reducer and a start collar, some hardware cloth and a few pounds of activated carbon from a pet store and a couple of woman’s stockings .. worked flawlessly for multiple grows on the same carbon. Best bet is to try and mimic the size...

Exhausting to outside in a basement.. ?

I’m more concerned that there will be a giant steam cloud constantly blowing out from under my house, might look a little odd. Neighbors may just think I have the cleanest laundry on the block! ‍

Exhausting to outside in a basement.. ?

Hmmm... now I’m wondering if I should figure out another way

Exhausting to outside in a basement.. ?

The other thing I was (over)thinking was when you exhaust outside, does it condensate like a dryer exhaust would in the cold winter months? My plan is to blow the exhaust out under a small overhang that is open on 3 sides that I will enclose with lattice.. but would the warm air blowing out...

Exhausting to outside in a basement.. ?

Lmao I think what’s he means is the way you’ve explained it so far makes it seem like just simply a chimney cap would prevent this from happening... a chimney cap simple keeps moisture and animals out and has nothing really to do with draft unless it is motorized, especially if you have a...

Exhausting to outside in a basement.. ?

No fireplace.. here’s a rough sketch of the layout. Total cubic feet of the area is about 2900 where the room I’ll build inside of there is just around 160-170. I don’t think it’ll be an issue but I like to think everything out before I make moves and start cutting holes and whatnot..

Exhausting to outside in a basement.. ?

If you had a 400cfm exhaust inside of a built closet in a basement exhausting directly outside the house and had a passive intake, could draft from the chimney be pulled and cause the gas boiler spill switch to trip or even worse potentially pull CO into the basement through a backdraft? I may...

Phresh filter with AC Infinity exhaust

My ideal setup is air cooled light open on one side with small length of duct on other side of the hood which connects to fan inside tent for noise and then ducted out to push through carbon filter outside the space. I’ve pushed through homemade carbon filters without replacing the carbon for...

Exhaust / Carbon Filter question, need advice...

I like the idea of the controllability from the T series, but I also like simplicity of the S series as there is less components to malfunction/fail.. I’m kind of old school in a sense I would rather do things the hard way lol...

Exhaust / Carbon Filter question, need advice...

Hey everyone, let me try to explain a little. I’m in the process of designing a room within my basement.. dimensions are 4’ wide, 6’ deep and 7’ high (or 168 cubic feet).. I’m looking at the AC Infinity Cloudline S6 fan rated at 347CFM for exhaust pulling through a Can-lite 6” carbon scrubber...
