I used 5 gallons and it matters on the size, the 5 gallon bucket only held 2 gallons of nutrients at the end of my grow because of how large the root mass was. I would only go smaller with small plants. If I ever did DWC again I would go larger not smaller.

I did DWC my first grow and liked some things about it. Adding the correct amount of H2O2 every 3 days was key to keeping living things down, You can do the route of h2o2 every few days, or make beneficial bacteria that will not allow other organisms to colonize.
